Abstract

The enthalpies of reaction of the five n-heptenes with trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of a strong acid catalyst have been measured. A combination of these data with the available combustion data for the alkenes allows the enthalpies of formation to be determined with higher precision than previously possible.
