Abstract

Summary Diethyl-1-magnesium chloride methanephosphonate was obtained by an exchange reaction between diethyliodo methanephosphonate and isopropylmagnesium chloride in THF at− 70 C. Reactions of this novel Grignard reagent with various electrophiles are described, and compared with those of the analogous lithium or copper derivatives.
