Abstract

The synthesis and properties of N-(alkyl-and arylsulfiny1) phthalimides are described. These materials are converted in high yield to sulfinamides and sulfinate esters on treatment with amines and alcohols, respectively. The mass spectral behavior of the title compounds was also investigated in some detail.
