Abstract
WE have reported on the high electrophilicity of tetra- fluorobenzyne in cycloaddition reactions with a variety of aromatic compounds.2 In order to test the generality of the reactions we have investigated similar reactions of tetrachlorobenzyne; some of these have been briefly rep~rted.~ Three methods for the generation of tetra- chlorobenzyne from easily accessible starting materials were considered.
