Abstract

It has been found that the reactivity of the double bond in the series CBHs (CH,~), CH= CH2 and CcHs (CHd,,-CH= C (CH1)? toward addition hg the trichloromethyl radical reaches a maximum when n= 2 and decreases as n increases. This dependence of reactivity on chain length is interpreted in terins of a Inechanisnl in which the trichlorornethyl radical first complexes with the benzene ring of the phenylalkene, followed by an addition step in ...
