Abstract

The preparation of coprostanetetrol-3 (a), i (a), 12 (a), 25 was considered desirable for the study of the intermediary metabolism involved in the biological conversion of cholesterol to cholic acid. 2 One of the metabolic routes obviously requires the removal of the terminal isopropyl group in the side-chain of the cholesterol skeleton.
