Abstract: Alkyl fluorocarbamates and alkyl difluorocarbamates were synthesized by the direct fluorination of alkyl carbamates in aqueous and nonaqueous solutions, respectively. Ethyl fluorocarbamate formed salts with aqueous alkali which reacted with dimethyl sulfate, ethyl chloroformate, chlorine, and bromine to give, respectively, ethyl N-fluoro-N- methylcarbamate, diethyl N-fluoroiminodicarboxylate, ethyl chlorofluorocarbamate, and ...
