Abstract: The cyclic permethylpolysilanes (Me2Si),, where n= 5-35, are all formed when dimethyldichlorosilane (Me2SiC12) is added slowly to sodium-potassium (Na/K) alloy in tetrahydrofuran (THF). NMR, UV, and vibrational spectra are reported for compounds n= 5- 19. The I3C NMR and IH NMR spectra are explained in terms of methyl-methyl group interactions.
