Abstract

Racemic p-Methoxysynephrine Hydrochloride.-(-)-Synephrine (1 g) was added slowly to an excess of thionyl chloride (15 g) under nitrogen. Reaction was complete after a few minutes, and the chloro compound which precipitated was filtered and washed first with benzene and then with ether (yield 0.95 9).
