Abstract

A study of the reduction of 3-amino-2-alkenimines 1 with alkali metals is reported. The nature of the alkali metal plays an important role in the course of the process. In this context, a new and simple method for the regioselective synthesis of 4-(ary1amino) quinolines 4 from 1 and sodium or potassium is described.
