Abstract

Allylsilanes commonly undergo [3+ 2] or [2+ 2] annulation reactions with aldehydes to give substituted tetrahydrofurans or oxetans,[1] an approach that has been applied to the syntheses of natural products.[2] New [3+ 2] and [4+ 2] annulations were reported for aldehyde substrates bearing an α-or β-siloxy group,[3] but these annulations required 1.0– 5.0 equivalents of a Lewis acid (BF3· Et2O, TiCl4, or SnCl4).[2–4] Our objective was to ...
