The novel reagent NSCI3 is readily generated by treatment of (NSC1)3 with an excess of S02C12; the reactions of NSCI3 with methacrylonitrile or thioacetamide produce 4-cyanoisothiazole or 5-methyl-l,3,2,4-dithiazolium chloride, respectively, in good yields. ...
