Abstract

Enzymes, a class of highly efficient and specific biocatalysts in nature, play an important role in human beings because they participate in cellular metabolic processes by enhancing the rates of reactions between biomolecules. Among the family of enzymes, selenoenzyme glutathione peroxidase (GPx, EC 1.11. 1.9) functions to protect the cell membrane and other cellular components from oxidative damage as an important anti-oxidative enzyme.[1] It ...
