Abstract

Today, hydroformylation is the largest industrially homogeneous catalytic process. Over 6 million tons of oxo products are being produced worldwide per year. Because chiral aldehydes can be easily converted into a variety of enantiomerically pure compounds, asymmetric hydroformylation 1 is potentially useful for the preparation of pharmaceutical products.
