Abstract

Abstract Lithiation of 4-benzyloxy-2-bromotoluene and subsequent quenching of the lithiated product affords 4-benzyloxytoluene-2-t which is oxidized directly to 4- benzyloxybenzaldehyde-2-t with ceric ammonium nitrate. Transformation of the aldehyde 6 by standard procedures affords DL-tyrosine-2′-t and tyramine-2′-t.
