Abstract: Chiral sulfamyloxaziridines 6 and 7, prepared by biphasic oxidation of the corresponding sulfamylimines 5, afford high asymmetric induction for the oxidation of a series of nonfunctionalized sulfides to sulfoxides (53-91% ee). The enantioselectivities exhibited by these reagents are comparable to, or in some cases better than, the modified Sharpless reagent reported by Kagan.
