Abstract

Several mesoionic 3-(substituted-aryl)-1C/-oxatriazole derivatives were prepared and evaluated as potential antihypertensive agents. 3-(4-Methylphenyl)-~-oxatriazole was found to produce a significant hypotensive effect in rats, which was characterized by a rapid (2-3 min) onset of action. Maximal effects were achieved within 30 min, and a substantial decrease in mean arterial blood pressure was recorded even 5 h after administration.
