Abstract

In a series of recent articles, a convenient approach to 2-unsubstituted imidazole N-oxides 1, including optically active derivatives, has been reported [2]. In general, the applied method is based on the condensation of a-(hydroxyimino) ketones 2 with a primary aliphatic amine and formaldehyde.
