Abstract

19F chemical shifts of a series of nitrogen-substituted fluorobenzenes have been investigated to demonstrate their use as a probe in determining structure. u constants are evaluated for selected nitrogen substituents from chemical shifts of the meta-and para- substituted fluorobenzenes. The results are discussed in terms of inductive, resonance, and conformational effects of the substituents on nitrogen.
