Abstract

We have previously demonstrated that sonication2 of organic halides with lithium metal in an ethereal solvent constitutes an exceptionally rapid and easy procedure for obtaining the corresponding lithio derivatives. These reagents readily react in situ with various organic (aldehydes, ketone^,^ dimethylformamidel) as well as inorganic (cuprous iodide*) species.
