Abstract

By using flash vaccum conditions the thermal elimination of PhPO from β- oxoalkylidenetriphenylphosphoranes, previously confined to cases with an α-electron withdrawing group, has been extended to provide a general, high yielding synthesis of aliphatic and terminal alkynes.
