Abstract
Introduction Ever siiicc Claisen's studies in the early 1900's 011 the renrraiigeiiient which bears his name, much interest has been shown in the nature of the transition state and the intermediates leading to the products of this reaction. ClaisenJ4 in 1925, on the basis of extensive studies, suggested a possible mechanism:
