Abstract

Production of 5a (R= CH3). A Typical Procedure. To a solution of 4a (507 mg, 2.08 mmol) in MeOH (14 mL) was added 11 M methanolic solution of HC1 (3.5 mL), and the resulting solution was heated under a reflux for 18 h. After addition of water (40 mL) and extraction with EhO (4 X 40 mL), the organic layer was washed with water, dried over anhydrous Na2S04, and evaporated in vacuo.
