Abstract

The class of compounds known as the pyranonaphthoquinone antibiotics are isolated from various strains of bacteria and fungi, the majority being microbial in origin. 1 and 2 This family of compounds have been shown to exhibit activity against various Gram-positive bacteria, pathogenic fungi and yeasts, as well as antiviral activity.
