Abstract
Contrary to prior reports, the addition of iodine monochloride to chlorotrifluoroethylene is bidirectional and both isomers CFzClCFClI (I) and CFClzCFd (11) are formed. The isomer ratio was shown to be temperature dependent with higher temperatures favoring isomer 11. In the presence of iron, however, the isomer mixture consisted of about 65y0 of I1 even at 0'.
