Abstract

We have developed a general and versatile synthesis of N, N-dialkylaminoalkyl-, 1- chloroalkyl-, 1-phenoxyalkyl-, 1-thiophenoxyalkyl-, 1-diethyoxyalkyl-, and 1-(1, 3-dithiolane) alkylcyclanols in good yields by the reaction of α, ω-bis (bromomagnesio) alkanes with the corresponding functionalized carboxylic acid esters.
