Abstract
The reactions of perfluorinated acids (C, F,,,+, CO* H, n= 1-3) with Grignard reagents give mixtures of ketones and carbinols containing one perfiuoroalkyl group with the ketones being the major products. However, the reaction of trichloroacetic acid with pheriylmagnesium bromide gives a mixture of diphenyl, dichloroacetic acid, phenylchloroacetic acid and diphenylacetic acid and none of the expected ...
