Abstract
Metal carbonyl anions are generally strong nucleophiles that undergo ready alkylation and acylati~ n.~ Hence they are valuable precursors to complexes with metal-carbon u bonds. Functionalized metal carbonyl anions (eg,(CO), MX-) offer an extra dimension of reactivity in that subsequent transformations can follow metal-carbon u bond formation.
