Abstract
During the last two decades intensive efforts have been undertaken to discover new chemicals to selectively control the growth of weeds. Modern pesticides should have a favorable combination of properties, including high levels of herbicidal activity, low application rates, crop tolerance, and low levels of toxicity to mammals. Finding products with such features is the main objective of chemical plant protection research.
