Abstract

The fluorination of indan with xenon difluoride in the presence of hydrogen fluoride occurred only at the p position, while further fluorination resulted in 5, 6-difluoroindan. The fluorination of tetralin and o-xylene occurred both at (Y and 6 positions, with P attack predominating over cy attack.
