Abstract

The metallation reactions of (trifluoromethyl)(alkylthio) benzenes with organolithium reagents and with the butyllithium/potassium tert-butoxide superbasic mixture are here described. The results, according to the theoretical calculations of energy minima, show the monometallation regiochemistry is directed by the sulphur atom.
