Abstract The action of phenyllithium on (bromomethyl) triphenylphosphonium bromide results in a nearly equimolar mixture of triphenylphosphinebromomethylene (formal H÷ abstraction) and triphenylphosphinemethylene (formal Br÷ abstraction).
