Abstract

Strained polynitro polycyclic compounds are of considerable current interest to US military agencies as a new clase of energetic materials. 2-4 As part of an ongoing research program in this area, 213 we have undertaken the syntheses of two novel tetranitronorbomanes, Le., 2, 2, 5, 5-and 2, 2, 7, 7-tetranitronorbomanes (the title compounds, 1 and 2, respectively).
