Abstract

Abstract Stigmatellin A (1) isolated from the myxobacterium Stigmatella aurantiaca is a powerful inhibitor of electron transport in mitochondria and chloroplasts. The first highly diastereo-and enantioselective total synthesis of this important natural product is described.
