Abstract

Boronic acids can form cyclic esters with diols rapidly and reversibly in basic aqueous solution. It has been shown that the boronic acid-diol interaction is very useful as a potential method to touch sugars and selectively recognize them.1 In certain fluorescent boronic acids the fluorescence intensity is sensitively affected by the complexation event and the fluores- cence change is readily applicable to practical sugar sensing.2 The finding suggests that the ...
