Abstract
Polyhydroxylated piperidines, commonly known as azasugars (iminosugars), are a class of compounds in which the ring oxygen of the sugar ring is replaced by nitrogen. At physiological pH, this nitrogen can be protonated and mimics a glycopyranosyl cation.
