Abstract
Anal. Calcd. for C21H2602: C, 81.3; H, 8.4. Found: C, 81.0; H, 8.1. a,a'-Diethyl-4 '-acetoxy-4-acetoxyacetylstilbene (IX) .- The acid chloride from 1.00 g. of the acetoxystilbene acid dissolved in 10 cc. of dry benzene was added dropwise to a cold (0-5 ") ethereal solution of diazomethane (prepared from 4.4 g. of nitrosomethylurea, dried over potassium hydroxide and distilled). After standing at room tem- perature for nineteen hours, the excess diazomethane and ether were removed ...
