Abstract
Secondary monoesters of open-chain, trisubstituted 1, 2-glycols have been converted into ketones on heating with zinc dust. The reaction was found valid for benzoate and p- nitrobenzoate esters, as well as for acetates, better synthetic results being obtained with the former.
