Abstract

1-Arylethyltriphenylphosphonium bromides thermally rearranged to 2- arylethyltriphenylphosphonium bromides. Direct formation of 2-arylethylphosphonium bromides was achieved by reacting styrene, HBr, and triphenylphosphine.
