Abstract
Coumarin V and some other hydroxyderivatives of 4-methylcoumarin are usually obtained by the Pechman reaction, involving polycondensation of two-and three-atomic phenols with acetoacetic ester (AE) in the presence of H2SO4 [I, 5]. A disadvantage of this method is the comparatively low and unstable yield of the target coumarins V and VIII.
