Abstract

Abstract Reaction of zinc with bromotrifluoromethane in pyridine gives poorly reactive trifluoromethyl zinc derivatives in the presence of ethyl benzoate whereas the Barbier condensation occurs with activated esters, like ethyl trifluoroacetate or ethyl oxalate, and cyclic anhydrides.
