Abstract

The radical mechanism of nucleophilic substitution, or SRN1, is a well-known process by which a substitution is produced on adequately substituted substrate^.^ This nucleophilic substitution mechanism is a chain process which involves radicals and radical anions as intermediates. The main steps of this mechanism are sketched in Scheme I. Scheme I (RX)'- - R' + X- (1) R' + Nu- - (RNu)'- (2) (RNu)'- + RX - RNu' + (RX)'- (3) ... This mechanism of nucleophilic ...
