Abstract

Hadacidin (1, N-formyl-N-hydroxyglycine) was originally isolated from a fermentation broth of Penicillium frequentans. It was later identified as a potent anti tumor agent. 1 In 1962, Gordon and co-workers reported the inhibitory effect of hadacidin on the de-novo biosynthesis of adenylic acid in Ehrlich ascites tumor and rat liver cells. 2 and 3 Hadacidin is a known inhibitor of adenylosuccinate synthetase (AdSS).
