Abstract

The relative yields of alkenes produced in the thermal decomposition of some unsymmetrical dialkyl sulfoxides were determined. The olefinic products produced are those predicted on the basis of the currently accepted mechanism involving the loss of a sulfenate moiety and any one of the available p hydrogens.
