Abstract

Results The reaction of diphenylcyclopropylcarbinol in the dark with 1 equiv of bromine in acetic acid is over in about 3 h at room temperature. Conventional workup of the reaction mixture by drowning in water, extraction, and a wash with bicarbonate to remove excess acetic acid gave the products shown below.
