Abstract

Following exhaustive catalytic hydrogenation, the saturated exo alcohol was oxidized with the chromium trioxidepyridine complex in dichloromethane and reduced with lithium aluminum hydride to the endo isomer. 1 Conversion to the mesylate and E2 elimination on activated alumina delivered the known hydrocarbon," which was brought to analytical purity by preparative VPC as before.
