Abstract
The reaction between alkyl nitrites, particularly n-butyl nitrite, and tertiary aromatic amines under a variety of experimental conditions promptly yielded products of N-dealkylation-N- nitrosation, ring nitration, ipso-substitution and, occasionally, combinations of these processes.
