Abstract
Abstract An unexpected cyclization of 1, 1, 2??tris??(4??methoxyphenyl)??pentan??1, 5??diol (7) yielding highly substituted (±) 2, 2, 3??tris??(4??methoxyphenyl) tetrahydropyran (10) under mild reaction conditions is described. A reaction mechanism for the formation of this product is postulated.
