Abstract
Abstract The synthesis of bis (neopentyl) aluminum chloride and subsequent reduction with potassium affords tetraneopentyl tetraaluminum (4). Analytical characterization of the latter is described and spectroscopic results are discussed. Reaction mechanisms are suggested for the reduction of bis (isobutyl) and bis (neopentyl) aluminum chloride as well as possible subsequent decomposition pathways.
