Abstract
It was found that the binary system reacts with benzaldehyde. Al- though, in reality, no hydrobenzoin to correspond to compound (I) is obtainable on the hydrolysis of the reaction mixture, there is nonetheless every reason to assume that the reaction indicated actually represents the first stage of the process.
